Mount your IQ Vise™ securely to a workbench, countertop, workstation, jobsite bench, or temporary work surface with the Work IQ Tools Quick-Detach Mount Hardware system. Designed specifically for the IQ Vise, this three-option vise mounting hardware system gives users the flexibility to create a permanent, semi-permanent, or portable vise installation while maintaining the secure connection required for demanding clamping, holding, assembly, repair, fabrication, maintenance, woodworking, and general workshop applications. Instead of dedicating an IQ Vise to one fixed location, the Quick-Detach Mount Hardware allows the vise to be installed where it is needed, removed when the work is complete, and reinstalled on another properly prepared surface without sacrificing the stability of the mounting interface.

The Quick-Detach Mount Hardware for IQ Vise includes three distinct mounting solutions engineered for different work surface materials, bench thicknesses, installation requirements, and underside access conditions. The system includes a dual-threaded sleeve mount with washers and nut, a threaded insert with a 6mm hex drive, and a T25 Torx® lag screw mounting option. The removable mounting configurations use a 1/4"-20 bolt with an ergonomic knob, giving the IQ Vise a secure mechanical connection to the prepared mounting hardware while allowing fast hand installation and removal. Together, these components provide a versatile IQ Vise mounting system for users who need reliable vise attachment without limiting the vise to a single workbench or workstation. The three mounting configurations and their recommended applications are also identified in the installation instructions, including the dual-threaded sleeve mount for various surface materials less than 1-1/2 inches thick, the threaded insert for solid wood surfaces over 1 inch thick, and the T25 Torx lag screw for jobsites and wood surfaces.

For workbenches, countertops, benchtops, and other surfaces where access to the underside is available, the dual-threaded sleeve mount provides a strong through-surface vise mounting solution. This configuration is intended for various surface materials less than 1-1/2 inches thick. Installation begins by positioning the IQ Vise on the workstation and marking the mounting hole locations through the vise base or with the supplied IQ Vise mounting template. Three holes are drilled using a 1/2-inch drill bit, and the dual-threaded sleeve mounts are inserted into the prepared holes. Washers are installed on the underside of the work surface, and 11/16-inch nuts secure the sleeve mounts in position. Once the mounting sleeves are installed, the IQ Vise is aligned with the mounting locations and the 1/4"-20 ergonomic knob bolts with washers are inserted through the vise base and threaded into the sleeve mounts. The knob bolts can then be hand-tightened to produce a secure and stable fit.

This dual-threaded sleeve mounting method is particularly useful for a semi-permanent IQ Vise installation because the mounting sleeves remain installed in the bench while the vise itself can be removed. The result is a prepared IQ Vise workstation that does not require the vise to remain permanently attached. Users can remove the IQ Vise for storage, transportation, bench cleaning, material handling, or workspace reconfiguration, then reinstall it at the same mounting location using the ergonomic knob bolts. Multiple properly prepared work surfaces can also provide dedicated mounting locations for the same IQ Vise, allowing the vise to move between compatible work areas while maintaining consistent mounting geometry.

For solid wood workbenches and work surfaces over 1 inch thick, the threaded insert configuration provides another secure Quick-Detach IQ Vise mounting method. Three mounting locations are marked through the IQ Vise base or by using the supplied mounting template, then three holes are drilled using an 11/32-inch drill bit. The threaded inserts are installed into the drilled holes and tightened using the 6mm hex drive located at the top of each insert. Each insert should be installed flush with the work surface to provide the correct fit for the vise base and mounting hardware. After the inserts are installed, the IQ Vise is positioned over the mounting locations, and the 1/4"-20 ergonomic knob bolts with washers are inserted through the base and threaded directly into the installed inserts. Hand tightening securely seats the vise against the work surface while preserving the ability to remove the vise when necessary.

The threaded insert configuration creates a clean, low-profile IQ Vise mounting point in a solid wood bench. Once the vise is removed, the threaded inserts remain installed in the work surface, eliminating protruding permanent mounting hardware above the bench. This makes the threaded insert method well suited to multipurpose woodworking benches, assembly tables, garage workbenches, maintenance benches, mobile workstations, maker spaces, fabrication areas, and shared work surfaces where the bench must remain usable for other tasks when the IQ Vise is not installed. The combination of fixed threaded inserts and removable 1/4"-20 ergonomic knob bolts provides a practical balance between permanent mounting preparation and quick vise removal.

For jobsite use and wood surfaces where a direct fastener installation is preferred, the Quick-Detach Mount Hardware system includes a T25 Torx lag screw mounting option. The lag screw and washer secure the IQ Vise directly to a stable and suitable work surface, providing a straightforward mounting method for temporary workstations, wood benches, jobsite work surfaces, and other applications where installing threaded sleeves or threaded inserts is unnecessary or impractical. Work surface strength remains an important part of the complete IQ Vise mounting system. The IQ Vise instructions state that the maximum vise torque of 130ft-lb may not be achievable when the vise is mounted to an inadequate surface, reinforcing the importance of selecting a structurally appropriate bench, countertop, workstation, or mounting surface for the intended load.

The 1/4"-20 ergonomic knob bolt is a central component of the removable mounting configurations. Its large knob provides a substantial gripping surface for hand tightening and loosening, allowing the IQ Vise to be attached or removed without relying on a conventional bolt head for routine installation. For additional tightening support, the knob incorporates side-positioned tightening holes designed for use with the IQ Vise Jaws Locking Pin that is included with the IQ Vise. The top of the knob also incorporates a 1/4" hex drive that can be operated with a 1/4" hex drive Allen® wrench. These two tightening interfaces provide additional mechanical leverage when securing the mounting bolt while retaining the convenience of an ergonomic hand-operated knob. The installation instructions caution against overtightening because excessive tightening can damage the threads or mounting surface.

The threaded insert itself incorporates a 6mm hex drive for controlled installation into the prepared solid wood surface. This hex-drive configuration allows the insert to be driven accurately into the drilled mounting hole and installed flush with the bench surface. The combination of the 6mm hex-drive threaded insert, 1/4"-20 ergonomic knob bolt, 1/4" hex drive in the knob, and side-positioned locking pin holes creates a purpose-built mounting interface specifically configured for repeated IQ Vise installation and removal. The hardware dimensions and interfaces are standardized across the removable mounting arrangements, allowing the vise base to remain the consistent connection point while the mounting hardware beneath it changes according to the work surface.

The included IQ Vise mounting template further supports accurate installation. The template identifies the three mounting positions required for the IQ Vise base, helping establish consistent hole placement before drilling. This is particularly important when preparing multiple IQ Vise mounting locations because accurate mounting hole positioning allows the vise to be transferred between prepared workstations without modifying the vise base. The mounting template on page 2 of the supplied instructions shows the three-hole mounting pattern and dimensional layout used to position the mounting hardware beneath the IQ Vise.

The Work IQ Tools Quick-Detach Mount Hardware system is designed around installation flexibility. A fabrication bench may use the dual-threaded sleeve mount for a strong through-bolted connection. A solid wood woodworking bench may use the flush threaded inserts for a clean removable installation. A temporary wood work surface or jobsite workstation may use the T25 Torx lag screw configuration for direct attachment. Each approach addresses a different combination of bench construction, surface thickness, access, installation permanence, and portability while keeping the IQ Vise securely connected to a suitable work surface.

For users working in garages, workshops, service departments, maintenance facilities, fabrication areas, woodworking shops, assembly stations, mobile work areas, construction jobsites, repair environments, and multipurpose workspaces, this versatility can reduce the need for dedicated vise stations. The IQ Vise can be mounted when clamping capability is required and removed when the work surface needs to be cleared. A single vise can be transported between compatible mounting locations instead of occupying permanent bench space. This makes the Quick-Detach Mount Hardware particularly useful where workspace changes frequently, where equipment must be stored after use, where a clean countertop is important, or where one IQ Vise needs to serve several work areas.

The system also addresses a common limitation of conventional bench vise mounting. Traditional vise installations frequently rely on fixed bolts and nuts that make removal inconvenient and encourage users to leave the vise permanently attached. The Quick-Detach Mount Hardware replaces that routine with dedicated mounting points and removable ergonomic knob bolts where appropriate. The bench retains the installed sleeve mounts or threaded inserts, while the vise can be released from the prepared mounting points without dismantling the entire mounting assembly. When the IQ Vise is needed again, the vise is aligned with the existing mounting locations and secured using the same 1/4"-20 knob bolt interface.

Installation flexibility does not eliminate the importance of correct mounting practices. The work surface must be stable, structurally suitable, and appropriate for the forces generated during vise operation. Mounting holes should be positioned accurately, the specified drill sizes should be used for the applicable hardware, threaded inserts should be installed flush, washers and nuts should be positioned correctly, and removable mounting bolts should be tightened securely without overtightening. Proper installation protects the mounting threads, preserves the work surface, improves vise stability, and helps the IQ Vise mounting system perform as intended.

The Quick-Detach Mount Hardware for IQ Vise combines three mounting methods into one adaptable vise mounting solution. The dual-threaded sleeve mount with washers and nut supports removable mounting on various surfaces less than 1-1/2 inches thick. The threaded insert with 6mm hex drive supports removable mounting in solid wood surfaces over 1 inch thick. The T25 Torx lag screw supports direct mounting for jobsites and wood surfaces. The 1/4"-20 ergonomic knob bolts provide fast attachment and removal for the sleeve and threaded insert configurations, while the integrated 1/4" hex drive and side-positioned locking pin holes provide additional tightening options. The result is a purpose-built IQ Vise mounting hardware system for permanent, semi-permanent, and portable vise mounting applications where secure attachment, repeatable positioning, fast removal, and efficient use of workbench space are required.
