Seems to be made of good quality materials. Very well mschined. All parts work good with the mating parts. Kinda high priced but may very well be worth the price. Not a piece of junk made in a communistic country.
I don't have room for a big heavy vise. This one is amazing for its size. I've had no issues with it holding anything in place to work on. Bicycle, door, angle iron, wood ... It has saved me from using a quick clamp to try and get it to hold an odd-shaped piece of material on my workbench to effortlessly holding it exactly where I need. I am not disappointed with this vise at all.
I've used all of the accessories for this vise. Not only is the vise perfect for MY needs, all of the other jaws, work as advertised.
It can move in different ways, instead of a the way a standard vice moves.
The versatility of this vice sets it above for me. As I have a closed bench, the ability to articulate outward as I work on larger items is a must. The accessories are fantastic and help being able to flexibly use extra lighting, a magnifying glass, and either film(for school) or watch tutorials while working on firearms.
I was skeptical, but wow. Day one and it already justified itself. Woodworking was unnecessarily difficult without this thing. Solidly made and it solves clamping puzzles without even trying. Five stars.
Saw this vice on YouTube and thought it looked amazing and perfect for some of the awkward/random things I work on. Obviously was slightly dismayed to so this was only available ‘across the Pond', but because I could order via Amazon's reliable international shipping, decided to go for it anyway. It's a great bit of kit, and very much the solid item you might expect for the price. It seems very well made and supremely versatile.Although it comes with mounting bolts, I found in more convenient to use three chunky threaded coach bolts to screw it to the edge of my heavy tool bench which has a thick wood worktop.Oh and the removable, reversible jaws are fantastic for getting a firm grip on awkward shapes or things you don't want to mark.
You know it's a good tool when it becomes a “go-to” immediately in the shop. Good quality and very adaptable for a variety of jobs. Thrilled.
I've been using this vise now for over a month. The first thing about the vise is its eye catching and an instant conversation piece. After you mount it on your bench, it will sit around for the first few days because you don't want to use it and get it dirty or mark it up. I even found myself doing things that should be clamped in a vice right next to it. Then comes the day where that eureka moment hits you and you seriously use the vise for the first time. After this, you're hooked, and it becomes the centerpiece of your workbench. Have used it for countless things now and have only had it for a month. I've clamped things like 8' 1/8”-1/4” metal and aluminum tube and angle iron for cutting, golf club shafts that are both metal and fiberglass, to clamping electrical components for soldering. I truly love this advice, and it was worth the extra money to purchase it.
This thing is amazing. I do a lot of work with metal in the shop and traditional vices never seem to line up with what I need. I was worried that the ball joint wouldn't hold tight enough but that is not the case. You can grab something and move it around where you want and this thing won't let go.
If you already have or are thinking about purchasing the vice you will definitely want this accessory. I mainly use it for holding my phone but having the option of the light and magnifying glass right there is amazing.
Absolutely amazing vise. It has so many useful features. Very convenient and thoughtful design. I love it.
Overall a good Vice for my usage. I ordered the vise and the pipe Jaws. Not large enough to hold a 3-in pipe and you have to keep the object centered over the screw or break the vice. It was missing one C clip on the back of one of the guides. There is no parts diagram in the manual. I assume they're supposed to be two c-clips still waiting on call back from customer service. Overall it's a great design and I recommend you keep your heavy duty Vice
I have 3 "luthier" vices (2 from StewMac, 1 Grizzly version). And while they're much cheaper, they're not nearly as capable. Plus they take up significantly more room on my bench, which large metal arms that are a definite danger to delicate instruments. I've only used for a few days, so I can't say what the downsides are, but very happy I pulled the trigger on this.
I work in aviation and often have parts that need held in a specific way to be comfortably worked on. I was expecting this vise to not hold its position super well but I have been suprised. It holds far stronger than I had any business hoping for. I wouldn't hammer on parts while it's in this vise but to wrench on parts or even shoot solid rivets it's perfect. It has made me more productive and my coworkers often come over to use it for their tasks. I would absolutely buy another for my home shop.
This is my review of Work IQ Tools Vise 360° Articulating Bench Vise Made from Steel & Cast Aluminum w/ 8-Position Locking Ball & Socket. I use a vise for a variety of woodworking projects. This vise has been a tremendous improvement over my previous one. First it has padded jaws that grip very well without marring or crushing the wood or other materials such as copper wire. The articulating feature allows me to position the vise at the best possible angle, which can be easily changed. It has a locking pin for certain angles including 90 and 45 degrees. The pad also has grooves for round objects such as pipes and dowels. I use this feature often to hold wood dowels that I twist copper wire around. It was easy to mount and is solid as a rock. The instructions are clear and thorough. I am extremely pleased with this product and feel it has exceeded my expectations; therefore, I will rate it 5 stars.
This is very handy to have, it's not as durable as an all-metal bench vise. But it makes up for it in functionality! The vise is solid and seems to be really good quality, I have it mounted to the back of my work truck and have had the chance to use it a handful of times so far. It's easy to use and performs well overall. A couple of cons I have noticed so far, one being all plastic build, although the plastic used is good quality and tough, it's still plastic and is expectable to breaking down the road. Another con would be the high price tag! Almost three hundred dollars? And they don't even include the other accessories? It really shouldn't be over $150 for this (Just my opinion) And the last con I've noticed while using it is even when cranked down and tightened, the vise will loosen and move while applying force when using it right at the ball & socket. It doesn't move much, but still enough to be noticeable. Overall, it's not bad and so far, I like it. I don't know how long it will hold up in future use, and if you can get it on sale, it's a good buy. Let's just hope it'll last at least a few years, haha.
The Work IQ Tools IQ Vise is an amazing tool. It allows me to work by moving the work piece rather than moving my body. The days of leaning over a workbench are over. I can sit in a chair and adjust the wood to my position.I like the sturdy construction. It is very well designed and made of quality materials.I would not use this for heavy work or when pounding on the piece is necessary. It is more for precision finishing work.I recommend this vise for anyone who wants to adjust the work piece rather than the human body.
The Work IQ Tools IQ Vise offers impressive versatility and functionality in a medium-capacity vise. Unlike conventional vises with fixed parallel jaws, this vise stands out for its unique design, reminiscent of the renowned cast iron Pattern Maker vise. While not as versatile as its predecessor, which was mounted beneath the bench, the Work IQ vise excels in its own right, offering comparable performance at a more affordable price point.Crafted from durable aluminum and steel, this vise operates smoothly and exerts significant clamping force, ensuring a secure workpiece grip. Its removable vise pads, featuring grooves and soft padding, easily accommodate pipes and other irregularly shaped objects. Additionally, the vise jaws can be swapped out for various insert options, enhancing its adaptability to different tasks. The inclusion of a comprehensive user manual and smart packaging further demonstrates the manufacturer's commitment to quality and user satisfaction. While the vise can be mounted directly to a benchtop using screws, I opted to mount it on an L-shaped wooden base for added mobility and versatility. This setup allows me to clamp the vise to different parts of the bench using clamps, expanding its usability. This vise offers exceptional flexibility with features like a locking pin for fixed horizontal or vertical positioning and adjustable access positions for diagonal or pitched configurations. However, I found that the cam lever clamp needs to be engaged even in fixed positions to minimize shaking. While the Work IQ vise may come at a higher price than traditional woodworking vises, its unparalleled versatility makes it a valuable addition to any workshop. As a woodworker, I appreciate its ability to tackle specialized tasks and handle challenging workpieces, complementing rather than replacing my existing bench vise.
I was somewhat skeptical of this vise up front, it looks a little plastic and weak at first, but once I got it, wow, great quality. There's a couple of (nice robust) plastic parts on this, but it is almost entirely metal, and a very sturdy design.I was in the process of identifying and purchasing a good knife vise that is made for holding a blade while finishing the handle as I make knives for a hobby. No need with this!It is so incredibly versatile and maneuverable, it does everything I need and so much more than a dedicated knife vise could do.Everything from the sturdiness, to the fit and finish, and the packaging details, etc. - All top notch for around the same price as a knife vise.I'd recommend this all day long.I'd still have a big old cast metal vise that has a bigger jaw capacity that you can really beat on in addition to this (this is too nice, I don't want to beat on it, even if it can take it). This is my new go-to primary vise, outside of the limited jaw capacity, I am really loving it and don't have any real cons to list.
This vice has several different options for the jaws to support a variety of projects and materials. I wanted a second vice to use for longer materials and projects to hold between them. I highly like the ability to rotate and adjust this vice in many different positions and easily lock it into that spot. It is very sturdy and made mostly of metal. The jaws are heavier than I thought they would be. The slide pin will lock the vice into the several position even without the quick release. It comes with mounting hardware too. I did use some bigger washers because I mounted it to wood and didn't want to stress the mount points underneath my workbench.
This is an excellent vice. Extremely useful. It is very well built and the jaws work as smooth as glass. The pads for the jaws are great, two sided, able to hold pipe very well, or flip around and use them for flat surfaces. The covers are easily changeable and held in securely with a set of locking pins. The best part is the articulating ball making the voice able to take any position or angle. This is extremely useful. Very easy to reposition, and stays positively locked in. Great versatility! Everything is straightforward and easy to use. The vice also has inputs for a. Magnifying glass, a cell phone holder, or a work light, (not included).
My applications: I'm a hobbyist woodworker and have a side hustle as a home renovatorPros: Too many to list. Seriously. I actually started chuckling with happiness from the moment I unboxed this vice and the entire time I first used it.1. The articulating ball lets you position your project in ways so you no longer have to bend down, lean-over, and twist your neck to get the proper angle on a piece of metal to grind or a board to drill.2. The 8-position locking ball and socket stays in place and doesn't move. I've locked in 1/8 inch metal and bent it with a metal break without issue.3. The vice jaws grip better than expected.4. The optional task-specific vice jaws extend the applications and make this an all-in-one vice.Cons: Absolutely none so far
